What is Grok Bot?

The product behind the templates: an AI teammate with its own computer, not a chat window.

Last reviewed August 29, 2026

Grok Bot is xAI’s product for persistent AI teammates, in beta since 11 August 2026. It is not the Grok chatbot inside X, and not the @bot account that announces it. A Bot is an agent you give real work to, with its own computer to do it on.

What makes it different from a chat assistant

A normal assistant answers a message and stops. A Bot has a persistent cloud computer — a managed Linux machine with a browser, filesystem and terminal — so work can continue in the background while your devices are closed. It signs in to the applications you authorise, remembers how you like work done, and only comes back when something needs your approval.

The parts of a Bot

Each Bot is built from:

  • Instructions — its role and when to act
  • Memory — what it knows about how you work
  • Skills — reusable step-by-step methods for tasks
  • Routines — skills placed on a schedule or an event trigger
  • Connectors and a browser — how it reaches your other tools
  • Approval rules — the actions that require a human first

One computer per user

Every user gets one persistent cloud computer, shared by all of that user’s Bots. They share its files, browser cookies and command-line credentials. Creating a second Bot does not isolate it from credentials already on that computer, so treat the computer — not the individual Bot — as the security boundary.

Who can use it

Grok Bot has no standalone price. Access is bundled with SuperGrok Plus and Heavy, Cursor Pro+ and Ultra, and Cursor Teams Standard and Premium. Plain Cursor Pro is not included. There is also a limited one-time trial for other accounts, with a fixed usage credit inside a seven-day window.

Subscriptions include a weekly usage allowance; long-running tasks consume it quickly. Always check the current access and pricing pages before relying on it.

Frequently asked

Does Grok Bot keep working when my laptop is closed?
Yes. Bot work runs on the cloud computer, so background turns and routines continue when your devices are off.
What does Grok Bot cost?
There is no standalone price. It is included with SuperGrok Plus/Heavy, Cursor Pro+/Ultra and Cursor Teams Standard/Premium, plus a limited one-time trial for other accounts.
