How to install a Grok Bot template
From a share link to a working Bot, without giving an early beta permission it should not have.

Installing a template takes about a minute. Making it actually work — and work safely — takes a few more steps, because the parts that touch your accounts and secrets are never included in the link.
Before you start
You need Grok Bot access on an eligible plan and the latest Grok Bot desktop or mobile app. If the “Add to Grok Bot” option is missing when you open a link, update the app.
Read the template’s setup guide first, if it has one, so you know which accounts and API keys you will need.
Step 1 — Open and review the link
Open the share link. Grok Bot shows a preview on x.ai: the Bot’s instructions, its skills and routines, and the integrations it expects. The link exposes whatever the author put in it, so read it before you add anything.
Step 2 — Add it to your account
Click “Add to Grok Bot”. Grok Bot creates a new, independent Bot in your account from the template. This step means you accept xAI’s third-party bot terms. You do not receive the author’s computer, logins or history.
Step 3 — Connect accounts and add the wiring
Follow the setup guide. Add the connectors the Bot needs. Create any accounts or API keys it calls for. Install any custom MCP servers or scripts that shipped alongside the template — these are not in the link and the Bot will not work without them.
Where a service supports it, create a dedicated account for the Bot and give it the smallest useful role. Prefer read-only access while you are still testing.
Step 4 — Test before real work
Run the Bot on a safe task that does not change an external system. Confirm it produces the expected output. Keep high-risk actions — anything that sends, pays, deletes or contacts a person — behind approval until you trust it.
Step 5 — Clean up when a project ends
Deleting a Bot removes its profile, conversation and routines, but files and signed-in sessions can remain on the shared cloud computer. Log out of accounts, revoke access and delete temporary files separately.

- The share link never includes API keys, logins, custom MCP servers or scripts. You rebuild that wiring from the setup guide after installing.

- Review the preview before adding it, connect it to dedicated low-privilege accounts, keep risky actions on approval, and test it on something harmless first. Remember all your Bots share one cloud computer.
